Received pics of the published book with mine and my friends' guest art pieces! Really cool to see everything in print form!
Pick up a copy of this book if you happen to be attending Comic-Con...you will be thoroughly happy with your purchase! Joe and Genevieve will be at the "Small press pavilion" table #O13. Look for Islands In The Sky under the "Keno's Lair" publishing label.
Congrats to Joe and Genevieve for releasing this gem of a comic!

I wanna draw a comic now...=P

It's good to be back!

Here's a sneak peek of a piece of guest art I did for my friends Joe's and Genevieve's self published comic book, Islands In The Sky. It's an awesome title making its official official debut at Comic Con on July 23rd - 26th. I have much love and respect for this most fun book and it's creative crew!
The rough sketch...there are some minor changes in the final version.

Two attempts at a finished version that I wasn't too happy with...

Thanks for viewing! I will now aim to get back to a more regular schedule of creative output and updating of this blog =)

Cheers,
B

Quick update this week...a piece from Wednesday's figure drawing workshop.
I'm currently learning ZBrush at work and this is a work in progress shot of...well hopefully you'll recognize who this is. My first 3D face sculpt and it has been really fun learning all this new-fangled (to me, at least) stuffs! A few more refinement passes on the face and hair and then it'll be on to texturing.
Special thanks to my co-worker Alessandro Briglia for all his advice and tips and tricks to using Z Brush

And finally, if you don't see constant updates to my blog in the next few weeks or so...it is because of Street FIghter 4!!!
A really cool Guile ZBrush sculpt.

Going back to the basics...here are some sketches from a figure drawing workshop last week and yesterday night. Both models were awesome! They had really defined features making it really fun to draw all the shadow shapes. For the male model, I took a stab at using the "Industrial Design" method of drawing prevalent at the Art Center in Pasadena. It's a little different than the way that I've been taught at the Academy in SF but still just as cool to utilize.

Here are several artists whose work has really inspired me lately...

Ron Lemen
Kevin Chen

and of course the old school...

Dean Cornwell
J.C. Leyendecker
Norman Rockwell

cheers,
B

Some older sketches...my teacher, a DJ at a block party, and a model from class.

*P.S. Happy Lunar New Years to all! May you have a joyous, prosperous and healthy Year of the OX!

1000+ hits on the blog! Thank you for your support! As promised here are some art that I really had fun doing! They're all from my work with the fine folks at Shaba Games!

Concept artworks from the Activision game, Spiderman: Web of Shadows for the Xbox360 & PS3. Since I prefer drawing over painting, these digital paintings took waaaaaay too long to produce. For these images, I painted on top of in-game screenshots of buildings. A special shout out to my co-workers who put out a ton of great concept art! That really pushed/inspired/helped me a bunch to improve my digital painting techniques. Here are some of my co-workers websites/blogs...really cool stuffs!

*And a special thanks to John Nevarez for grouping my blog onto his blogs lists! No doubt a lot of viewers here were referred from his "soooper" cool blog! John's work is just too awesome!!! Very inspiring!
